Ari Lesser became widely known after his song “Boycott Israel” went viral a couple of months ago. If you missed it, check it out:
In October of 2013 David Guetta alongside the Israeli trance duo Infected Mushroom gave a massive show to a crowd of twenty thousand people atop King Herod’s historic fortress of Masada, a place located 424 meters below sea level. At the lowest place on Earth, they say. For details see Tabletmag.
“For this video, Kutiman got his hands on a mess of classic Israeli performances by artists such as Gidi Gov, Zohar Argov, Izhar Cohen, Boaz Sharabi and more, and remixed it into what is both a contemporary groove and a look back at a simpler, perhaps more innocent time.” Source
I never knew Joe Dassin (November 5, 1938 – August 20, 1980) was Jewish. “Jew Dassin”, as they noted at the link below. He was born in NYC to Jewish parents, and buried on Jewish cemetery in. Hollywood, California.
from Wikipedia: “…Dassin was born in New York City to American film director Jules Dassin (1911 – 2008) and Béatrice Launer (1913–2005), a New-York-born violinist <...> His father was of Russian and Polish Jewish extraction, his maternal grandfather was an Austrian Jewish immigrant, who arrived in New York with his family at age 11…”
Here you can find photos of Joe Dassin and his then future wife Christine Delvaux to Jerusalem in 1977. Here’s one photo from the set:
The sound of Jerusalem, audio/video collage created by Kutiman. To make it, he wandered around town, met local musicians and filmed them. All featured artists are listed in the video description.

Which makes me feel good about never having his songs anywhere near my CD player or hard drive. I’m actually surprised there are people in Israel ready to pay for a ticket to see this douchebag. Here he explains why he’s not going to play there, in case you were wondering. But don’t expect anything new or interesting: it’s all about suffering of the innocent. Which ones? Palestinian civilians, of course.
